Meet your Smart Travel Belize guide at the Fort Street Tourism Village in Belize City where your Lamanai Mayan Ruin adventure begins. At the start of the tour, your guide will take you on a scenic drive along the northern coast of Belize City and unto the Phillip Goldson Highway. Equipped with information, history and a couple surprises, your guide will take you through rural Belize toward “Shuga City” (Orange Walk District).
Upon arrival in Orange Walk, we will disembark the vehicle and get on a boat toward Lamanai, Lam’an’ain or as some call it, the “Submerged Crocodile”. As we journey down the river, you will get to see a variety of animals in their natural habitat as your guide points them out to you.
The Lamanai ruins is one of the largest and oldest continuously occupied Mayan archaeological site in Belize. Located on the banks of the New River, this ceremonial site is home to a variety of trade metals and mask temple.
After seeing the Lamanai ruins you will have some time to sit and enjoy some lunch in a gazebo near the lagoon before heading back to Belize City and returning to your starting point.
